about

Considered a dystopian film classic by cinephiles everywhere, Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent epic, Metropolis, is reinvented with an evocative, modern music score by Eccodek’s Andrew McPherson and Deliveryboy. Commissioned in 2007 to create a modern retake on the film's score, the duo's soundtrack is performed live and in sync with the film, drawing upon a palette of jazz, classical, dub, ambient, post-rock and found sound to breathe new life into this remarkable film.

Eccodek's McPherson and Deliveryboy recently distilled the strongest themes from their 2 hour score to bring their soundtrack to life as a studio recording. The duo use a battery of live instruments (guitar, percussion, piano, synths, samplers), live audio-looping, sound design and digital sound processing to create what The Toronto Star and Now Magazine dubbed, “…a trip-hop Metropolis”.

Those unfamiliar with Lang's film will discover a visionary take on urban society, the struggle of the soul and the messianic portrayal of good and evil. Metropolis is a high watermark in the world of film.
