Four80East is the brainchild of producers Rob DeBoer and Tony Grace, also known internationally for their genre-hopping indie label/production house, Boomtang. The Four80East sound fuses progressive jazz sensibilities with trippy atmospherics and dancefloor-friendly grooves. This Toronto-based group draws from a variety of sources to make their music happen including found sounds, field recordings and sound effects alongside their finely crafted studio recordings. Four80East has performed at taste-making festivals both overseas and in the US, while consistently topping UK and US pop and remix charts with their stomping production work. With 'In This Drum A Secret', Four80East work up a slick, pulsing rendition of this Malian favourite from "More Africa In Us", bringing to the table their sophisticated layering approach to beats and melodies.
